Cheerwine + Krispy Kreme = AWESOMENESS

All the blogs/facebook comments today are a buzz about these Cheerwine-infused Krispy Kremes. People are furious that a Doughnut company came up with a special flavor mixed with a local beverage. Really people? If you think America's obesity is the Kreme's fault...you are mistaken. They don't force you to eat them, they barely advertise, and they are a LOCAL company here in NC..just as is Cheerwine. You want your family to eat organic hummus from Earth Fare? Fine! But don't blame the Kreme for diabetes.
Lighten up people!!!!!

Excerpt from the Charlotte Observer:
Love the fizzy taste of Cheerwine and the glaze of Krispy Kreme doughnuts? Now you can get both in one flavor-packed treat.

Cheerwine Kreme Filled Krispy Kreme Doughnuts will be released Thursday to approximately 1,000 grocery stores across the Carolinas.
“I love Cheerwine and I definitely love Krispy Kreme,” said Brian Little, director of corporate communications for Krispy Kreme. “When I heard, I said you can’t go wrong with this.”
The doughnuts will be packed with Cheerwine-infused crème and topped with a chocolate icing and a healthy dose of red and white sprinkles, said Tom Barbitta, vice president of marketing for Cheerwine.
The partnership will bring together two North Carolina brands. Krispy Kreme is headquartered in Winston-Salem; Cheerwine is based about 40 miles south in Salisbury.
The doughnuts are only available through the month of July and can be found only in grocery stores, not in Krispy Kreme stores, Little said.
Grocery stores that will be carrying the limited edition doughnuts are Bi-Lo, Lowes Foods, and select Harris Teeter and Food Lion stores. The doughnuts will be released exclusively in the Carolinas.
“It’s a great celebration of two great brands here in the Carolinas,” Barbitta said.

Summer Reading-Grab your Beach Chair

"You get a little moody sometimes but I think that's because you like to read. People that like to read are always a little fucked up." — Pat Conroy (The Prince of Tides)

I love reading . Besides TV such as 24 (Jack Bauer 4-ever) and Mad Men, it is the best form of escapism. Remember the scene in The Neverending Story where Bastian is curled up in a blanket in the school's attic? That is how I feel when I am reading a spectacular book....the book and myself are the only things that exist in the Universe (as long as the nothing doesn't suck it away).
Here are a few I recommend if you are looking for a great summer read:

Could not put this book down. Afterwards I grilled my Dad to see if this is how it really was. IT WAS.

Everyone I knew read this and said it was great. What can be so great about a Circus? EVERYTHING. It didn't hurt that I heard Reese Witherspoon and Edward Cullen would be in the movie.

Yes, silly and girly. But I loved it. The movie didn't do the book justice but Sandra Bullock and Ashley Judd were adorable.

Pat Conroy is an iconic Southern Writer. You can lose yourself in his words and his frighteningly accurate depictions of the South.

"The South's got a lot wrong with it. But it's permanent press and it doesn't wash out."

I can't wait to read these three books at the Beach. I've heard rave reviews!

Do you have any Summer Reading suggestions???

What is my style? Pretty/Southern/Antique/Organized...and Liveable

What is my home decor style? I'm a realist, not a minimalist. We have stuff. Currently it is M, myself and our two dogs. And every now and then D comes to live with us. So we have "things"...magazines, toys, photographs, cookbooks...BELONGINGS. So in those images of houses where there is no stuff drives me bonkers. Do these people have no personality? Did they just break out of prison? Maybe they took a ritalin and shoved everything in the hall closet. Regardless, I like pretty houses with stuff...

Here are a few images.

I really want that pillow.

Father's Day!

This year we are fortunate enough to be in an entirely different position than we were last Father's Day. Last year my dad had hip replacement surgery...no big deal right? But the stress of this surgery kicked off his diverticulitis and a normal surgery became a very grave situation. This all happened, of course, over Father's Day weekend. I have to thank Dr. Humble and Dr. Elmore and of course God everyday that we made it through last summer. My Uncle had the same horrible battle and he is also fine. So this year I am delighted to celebrate Father's Day with a healthy Dad!!!

We also have D in town so M is thrilled to spend this special day with him. Now....what should we get them? Here are a few ideas....

Gulf Stream glasses from Mignon Faget $42

Bowtie from Southern Proper $55

Or is your Dad more of a tie guy? Tie from Southern Proper $68

WHO DAT! Ice Bucket from Adlers

How about the entire box set of Smokey Robinson? The bonus of this is you buy it on your iTunes and then burn the CD's for Pops. That way its a gift for you too!

You can't go wrong with liquor. How about some Blanton's?

I wish I could needlepoint. I LOVE these belts from Smathers and Branson. $165

I know M wants one of these Skipjack polos from Southern Tide. $75 (except he wouldn't buy Carolina blue)

But really, I wish I could buy both of them this Electrolux Grill!!!

Happy Father's Day to all!

Why watch the 2010 FIFA World Cup???

With a husband that was born in Rio de Janeiro and who grew up playing soccer; I have been forced to watch and understand Futbol. For all you ladies out there that need a reason to watch feast your eyes on this....

Diego Forlan for Uruguay

Kaka for Brasil
